Maoting is from China. She became obsessed with biology when she was a undergraduate in Zhejiang University. During undergraduate study, she worked on several topics from yeast genetics, viral protein biology to cancer metastasis. Experiences in different fields help her acquire deeper understanding in the biological research. Maoting joined Zhang's Lab in 2020. She is now addressing the role of gene expression in the learning and memory using C. elegans a model organism.
